Across the Veil
An Eternal Journey Through God's Plan of Happiness
Before our first breath, there was life. Beyond our final breath, life continues. Between these two horizons lies a remarkable journey of divine purpose, eternal love, and promises that reach beyond the boundaries of mortality.
An Invitation to Discover Eternity
What if death is not the end of life's journey, but simply a passage from one existence into another? What if those we love, though separated from our sight, continue to live, to learn, and to experience a purposeful existence beyond the veil? And what if the greatest comforts we seek in our deepest sorrows have been waiting for us within the eternal truths of God's divine plan?
Long before we entered this world, our journey had already begun.
We lived as spirit sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father, whose purposes for us extended far beyond the world we now know. In His infinite wisdom, He prepared a plan through which we could grow, gain experience, receive physical bodies, develop faith, and progress toward the eternal blessings He desires for His children.
This divine design is known as the Plan of Salvation, or, as beautifully described in the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, God's Plan of Happiness.
It is a plan founded upon love, made possible through Jesus Christ, and reaching across the immeasurable expanses of eternity.
It is also the story of us.
Every soul who has ever lived, every child who has entered this world, every loved one who has departed from it, and every person yet to be born has a place within this remarkable eternal journey.
And it is here that our exploration begins.
Our Journey Through the Veils of Time
Together, we will travel beyond the familiar boundaries of earthly existence, beginning in the premortal realm where our spirits lived before birth.
There, we will explore our divine heritage, the purposes of our creation, and the loving plan that prepared the way for our mortal experience.
We will approach the veil of birth, that sacred passage through which we enter mortality, leaving behind our conscious remembrance of the life we knew before.
Here, in our earthly existence, we will consider why we came, what we are intended to learn, and how the experiences of love, joy, suffering, choice, and loss contribute to our eternal progression.
We will discover why this life, despite its difficulties and uncertainties, is not an isolated existence but a purposeful chapter within a much greater story.
Then, we will approach the veil of death.
For many, this is where understanding gives way to uncertainty and where sorrow raises its most difficult questions.
Where have our loved ones gone? Are they aware of us? Do they continue to learn and grow? Will we recognize one another again? And can the loving relationships we cherish here truly endure beyond the grave?
Through the revealed teachings of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, we will explore what awaits beyond mortality: the spirit world, the continuing purposes of existence, the Savior's victory over death, the promised Resurrection, and the eternal possibilities prepared by our Heavenly Father.
Our journey will carry us toward the grandeur of eternity, where God's promises of justice, mercy, restoration, and everlasting joy invite us to see life and death through a far greater perspective.
Where Understanding Restores Comfort
Grief has a way of narrowing our horizons.
When someone we love passes beyond our sight, the world we knew can suddenly feel unfamiliar. Questions once easily set aside become deeply personal. The distance between what we believe and what we can see may seem painfully wide.
Yet the veil that separates us from those who have departed does not erase their existence, diminish our love, or cancel the promises of God.
Separation is not the same as ending.
Throughout Across the Veil, our Faith Notes will gently examine the eternal truths that give meaning to this distinction.
Some will offer answers to questions you may have carried for years. Others may introduce sacred possibilities you have never considered. Still others may help you rediscover a comforting truth that sorrow temporarily placed beyond your reach.
These reflections are not intended to dismiss grief or suggest that faith removes the pain of separation. Love naturally longs for the presence of those it holds dear.
Rather, they invite us to discover how eternal understanding can stand beside our sorrow, strengthening hope, reassuring the heart, and restoring confidence in the promises of Jesus Christ.
For those who mourn, knowledge of eternity may become a source of priceless comfort.
For those who question, it may open the door to a deeper understanding of divine purpose.
And for those who simply yearn to know more, it offers an invitation to discover the magnificent scope of God's eternal design.
An Invitation Beyond the Familiar Horizon
You need not begin this journey with every answer, nor must you possess an unwavering certainty about what lies beyond this life.
Bring your questions. Bring your curiosity. Bring the memories of those you love and the hopes you hold for seeing them again.
Come seeking understanding, and allow yourself to consider the sacred truths and divine promises revealed through God's prophets and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
As we travel together through the veils of time and into the promise of eternity, we will look upon our existence from a perspective that reaches beyond birth, beyond death, and beyond the limitations of earthly sight.
We will discover that God's Plan of Happiness is not merely an explanation of where we came from or where we are going.
It is a testimony of whose we are, why we are here, and what we may yet become.
And perhaps, somewhere along this journey, you will find that the comfort you thought was lost has not vanished at all. It has been waiting within a greater understanding of the love, purposes, and eternal promises of our Heavenly Father.
Welcome to Across the Veil.
Our journey begins before the beginning we remember, and reaches toward an eternity more glorious than we can presently comprehend.
